It seems interesting to give me some ideas and details from the DOJ would use Foland and insist on the optimistic side (or Care Bears) of this universe. The texts in bold are many ideas of scenarios.
The Foland are rich: the land is generous, well-developed agricultural techniques, trade effectively compensates the lack of certain islands. Except Verou (Borena and to a lesser extent), the population density is very low. There are places empty (or that believes empty! ) people. Wars are not very frequent because people are peaceful Foland and there is little of devastating wars. The Verougues are colonizers, not looters when they capture a city or land, they will not destroy it but to squeeze it gently like an orange, to get the maximum. (The next text of the guide on Foland Verou clarify many things about these ladies Verougues)
Life is so enjoyable (except Borena-but then I dropped a little- Security Lock-on and explanations will come later-). There are plenty of really nice places if not paradise: Libreterre , Havredoux , Miato (see here and there ). Lanareta is not unpleasant and there are other places (Rahajida, Mina Roka, Verlander and his high sense of hospitality) very endearing details of which will come. Even the northern islands, harsh climate, have their charms (their description will also ...)
In terms of technological level, personally, I see Foland in an era of the late Middle Ages and early Renaissance (my adventurers have invented gunpowder!) but it is possible to do something else. One thing is for sure is that the level varies depending on the island.
It is essential not to put the old patterns of medieval societies (Once again, Borena is an exception). Companies are often self-managed basis to small communities living in peaceful harmony (and it is this harmony that come verougues shoving). Nobility is a concept that does not exist in many places!
The gods are present but their influence is sometimes very small. There are companies completely atheist (or agnostic, as you want). The philosophy of most people is to live happily here and now and not wait for a hypothetical paradise. It is therefore possible to place animist cults in some places. For me (you can consider otherwise), there is no evangelistic worship of the One at great sword in the mug, but a much more subtle and less violent.
Gold is often despised. merchants who succeed are those who take risks, those who will not play on artificial shortages maintained
The servants of the One is a sort of force of peacekeepers rather effective e. (Why not a group of adventurers servants?)

Magic is not very powerful, except Libreterre or absent in some places and very utilitarian. Libreterre is the exception that proves the rule and edrulains do not want (but then not at all) to leave disseminate the most powerful of the Magic to conflict with their interests ( And they do it by selecting non-soigeusement libreterrans to whom they teach. Sometimes they are mistaken in their choice of apprentices. Chasing these renegades can not be a source of evil epic adventure .... ).
A friend who finished the "Ballad of Fronin" faisaut me out about Edrulains: They have everything: the Magic, Dragons ... True, but they are very few (personal note: think of this detail on the text on Libreterre) and sometimes very little motivation to go and fight for causes other than Libreterrre (Yes, there are very selfish Libreterrans!).
course, the major source of adventure is the fight against the verougues . But as I did notice my friend grumph brilliantly during a conversation about this, they have their reasons (not excuses so far) to be as wicked linked to their history and their society and the source of a campaign could be to help them resolve their problems at home (huge task!) . Exploration of empty land, as I said above, is another source of adventure .
One last point: The description I am Foland in any of this blog is valid for 30 years after the end of campaign logran , where begins the ballad of Fronin pretty upset that the Foland (and you have seen nothing yet!) . You are of course fully entitled to imagine another sequel in history that I developed in this book!
